It's almost 4pm.
the class is quiet except for the slow, steady voice of the History teacher at the front.
Dylan sits in the first row, arms folded.
He's not exactly listening, but he keeps his eyes on the board.
"So...," the teacher continues.
"Darwin's theory is a cornerstone of understanding evolution. It states that all species and organisms develop through natural selection of small, inherited variations that increase the individual's ability to compete, survive and reproduce."
The chalk squeaks across the board as he writes.
He turns back to the class.
"This is what we call, survival of the fittest"
"This theory suggests, that every organism on earth had to undergo changes over millions of years to reach it's current state"
"It also suggests that, at some point all life on earth shared a common ancestor from which we evolved from"
He continues, pacing slowly.
"Take us, for example, we are Homo-sapiens. Our lineage traces back through the apes... and back further still to the first single celled organism in the ocean"
"Birds..."
"Birds are the descendants of the dinosaurs, having evolved over more than sixty-five million years into what we see today."
Dylan looks up at that, an involuntary, skeptical smile pulling at his mouth.
The teacher notices.
"Dylan...?"
Dylan clears his throat.
"Sir..., does that mean angels evolved from dinosaurs?"
